I have no clue how you do it. I haven't written in two weeks because I was recovering from an intense series of concerts. I wasn't even performing, just attending! Thank you for the background on The Planets. Growing up I had heard some of the pieces, but never put them in context. I do know that I liked Holst more than Gershwin, who became much more famous but who is a bit too maudlin for me.

I have to agree with you - I appreciate Gershwin's place in history but I like Holst's conceptual grasps more somehow, it feels more of the time in an ambitious way.

It's one of the most incredible reads of my life. It seems to me that what he faced in his childhood helped influence him to become highly empathetic to these scientists and their actions and makes for an extremely well written read. Thank you so much for reading :)
