I hope that this post finds you all well—it’s my birthday today, 10/24, and it has given me a chance to reflect on how much I’ve grown over the last year and over the course of my life. It’s also my 21st, quite the milestone in the US whereas I imagine it feels rather functional as only the first in-twenties birthday everywhere else. This column has been a blessing in connecting me to so many histories and worlds, given me a chance to think and write creatively on a new scale, and has activated a burning passion for music like never before. But for this day, when I’m celebrating not only my birthday but two of my very dearest friends’, I wanted to prompt myself and my readers to scale back, breathe, and appreciate life.
