Beyond EGP: I keep forgetting...
to tell you all that i'm on the radio (woooahhh)
Amidst a particularly demanding but fruitful return to academics for my senior year, I have had dizzying array of thoughts but have not undertaken much action on writing about topics that intrigue me here, from music to beyond. One activity I have been faithfully committed to, though, is my recently-debuted weekly radio show!
I joined my college’s radio, the apex of all activities one can pursue on this earth, last autumn as a trainee and I’m now a full-fledged DJ. If the labor of entering titles in Spinitron and pressing ‘queue’ on Spotify can be called disc jockeying. Anyway, my DJ status allows me one free-reign show weekly, an 11 pm slot that slips in to the mysticism of nocturnal hours. I appropriately titled it Quantum Alchemy after one of my favorite (and now-closed) metaphysical stores in my hometown.
A tragic caveat is that I’m not technically privileged to broadcast on AM radio - USC’s radio antenna allegedly exploded in a lightning strike a few years back. One can imagine that replacing a radio antenna does not top any university priority lists, so until that lucky day, we’re online only at kxsc.org/listen.
As illustrated in a sampling of my graphics below, I draw upon a range of genres and thematic skews, and I am reminded of how my 2024 genre-spanning blogging adventure was so transformative in widening my musical purview, passions, and the range of stories it allows me to draw from. Some shows have been country composites, journeying through their history and my favorite genres; others are more focused on scenes, such as a selection of my UK garage and DnB favorites interspersed with a historical exploration of pirate radio or a country cross-section of Brazil.
Feel free to listen here: kxsc.org/listen, 11 PM Pacific Standard Time, 2 AM for any East Coast night owls, and 8 AM for any of my European subscribers. I hope to be your late-night broadcaster soon, but I also want to shout out the range of DJs across the station who show off their taste seven days a week, and plug the KXSC Spotify too.
If you miss any shows but want to tune into what I played, I’m trying my best to create playlists that you can find on my Spotify profile.

Cool! A little too late at night for me here, but you never know when I might have a bout of insomnia and be able to listen in.
